Methodology
Medflow upholds a best-of-breed approach. Medflow concentrates its efforts solely on developing ophthalmic clinical applications. Therefore, it is extremely critical for us to have an open relationship with the industry to enable the integration of our applications together with the very best in practice management systems, ophthalmic devices, ophthalmic imaging applications, employ the most current standards and use state of the art development tools. This approach has proved to be effective and it provides you with comfort, knowing your software application is always on the cutting edge and it will never be obsolete.
Standards
IHE is an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way computer systems in healthcare share information. IHE promotes the coordinated use of established standards such as DICOM and HL7 to address specific clinical needs in support of optimal patient care. IHE "Eye Care Initiative", which started at last year's AAO is striving to bring practice management, electronic health records and ophthalmic device manufacturers together to create a standardized platform whereby all ophthalmic content can be shared. Medflow has taken a leading role in this process and is working together with the IHE Committee and the AAO to develop the framework necessary to fully deploy interoperability in the eye care clinic. The integration goals promote appropriate sharing of medical information to support optimal patient care.
Health Level Seven is one of several American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) operating in the healthcare arena. Health Level Seven’s domain is clinical and administrative data. 
DICOM was created to establish international standards for communication of bio-medical diagnostic devices and therapeutic information. Its goal is to achieve compatibility and improve workflow efficiency between imaging systems and other information systems. The Working Group 9 (WG9) and the AAO are fully dedicated to ophthalmology modalities and encourages participation from the industry.

Medflow takes lead in the AAO sponsored IHE Eye Care Initiative with expanded product developments and features. The only EHR to pass IHE Eye Care Connectathon testing.
